The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) is the UK’s leading gardening charity, dedicated to advancing horticulture and promoting gardening. BCA has a long standing association with the RHS and has an enviable reputation for providing high quality horticultural training.

At BCA you can choose to follow the RHS L2 theory or practical-based route of study, or a combination of both. The qualifications are suitable for anyone wanting to develop their horticultural knowledge and skills; they can provide a route into the horticultural profession and can support career development for those already working in the field of horticulture. The RHS qualifications are composed of units which focus on clearly defined horticultural areas from garden planning to plant growth and propagation. Although there is no formal entry requirement for the RHS level 2 an interest and enthusiasm for plants and gardening is essential.

  • The theory-based qualifications focus on developing the knowledge and understanding of a range of horticultural practices.
  • The practical-based qualification focuses on developing essential horticultural skills.
  • If you choose to take the theory-based and practical-based certificates you could achieve an RHS Level 2 Diploma in the Principles and Practices of Horticulture.

It is now possible to study RHS Level 3 Certificate in Horticulture at BCA. This is an evening course over two years and builds on the knowledge gained from the Level 2 Theory course. Although there are no formal prerequisites for entry to the qualification it is strongly recommended that students have studied the content covered by the Level 2 Certificate or an equivalent Level 2 qualification in horticulture.

If you require further information on any of the part-time courses offered, please do not hesitate to contact us on enquiries@bca.ac.uk or alternatively, give us a call on 01628 824444.
